Below is a list of past key First Budget events in Iowa and New Hampshire.

  • Feb. 12 – Health care forum with the Greater Des Moines Partnership featuring Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum and a former director of the Congressional Budget Office, & Kenneth Thorpe, chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
  • March 31 – Interactive budget exercise with former U.S. House members Tom Tauke (R-IA) and Leonard Boswell (D-IA) at Central College in Pella, IA.
  • April 2 – Issue forum about the national debt with former senators Judd Gregg (R-NH) and Evan Bayh (D-IN) at the UNH School of Law in Concord, NH.
  • April 6 & 7 – Retirement security events with federal budget expert Ed Lorenzen at Drake University and the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
  • April 13, 14 & 16 – New Hampshire college engagement events at St. Anselm College, Southern New Hampshire University, and Dartmouth College.
  • April 20-23 – Iowa college engagement events at Buena Vista College, University of Iowa, Cornell College, and University of Northern Iowa.
  • June 2 – Interactive budget exercise at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, NH.
  • June 27 – Milford Republican Committee event in Milford, NH with Rich Ashooh, director of strategy at BAE Systems and chairman of the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy.
  • August 10 – East Des Moines Lions Club event.
  • August 17 – Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber event with state senator Jeff Danielson and former state representative Doris Kelley.
  • August 17 – Waterloo Rotary Club event.
  • September 9 – Bob Bixby taught a course about First Budget at the New Hampshire Technical Institute.
  • September 10 – Downtown Lions Club in Des Moines event.
  • September 21 – Bob Bixby spoke to the New Hampshire Bankers Association.
  • September 22 – Maya MacGuineas spoke to the Iowa Bankers Association.
  • September 22 – First Budget partnered with Drake University, the RaySociety, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, No Labels, and Research!America to host an interactive budget exercise at Drake University.
  • September 23 – Former Congressman Paul Hodes presented to the Raymond Rotary Club.
  • September 30 – Former Congressman and Ambassador Richard Swett and Rich Ashooh spoke to the Bedford Rotary Club in NH
  • October 1 – Former Governor Ed Rendell and Paul Stebbins gave an analysis of the nation’s fiscal challenges and national debt at the State Historical Building Auditorium.
  • October 9 – ‘Fiscal Fridays’ kicked off with an interview with Ohio Governor John Kasich at the Warren B. Rudman Center at UNH Law.
  • October 16 – Former Governor Martin O’Malley did an in-studio interview at NH1 as part of ‘Fiscal Fridays.’
  • October 21 – General Cartwright participated in a national security forum as part of the Iowa Caucus Consortium.
  • October 23 – Senator Lindsey Graham participated in ‘Fiscal Fridays’ with a live in-studio interview.
  • October 28 – Former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker keynoted an event with the Foster Group in Des Moines.
  • October 29 – Former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker participated in a business round table in Cedar Rapids.
  • October 29 – First Budget partnered with the Community College System of NH for a civic forum with Hillary Clinton at White Mountains Community College.
  • October 29 – Former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker presented to the Iowa City Rotary.
  • November 9 – Ohio Governor John Kasich did an in-studio interview at MC22 in Iowa as part of ‘Your First Budget.’
  • November 13 – Iowa cabinet member David Oman and Randall Bauer, former state of Iowa budget director and Fix the Debt steering committee member, presented to the Des Moines Rotary.
  • November 13 – Former New York Governor George Pataki participated in ‘Fiscal Fridays’ with a live in-studio interview.
  • November 18 – First Budget hosted an interactive budget exercise at St. Ambrose University with the Quad-City Times and Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.
  • November 18 – Former Congressman Paul Hodes presented to the Durham-Great Bay Rotary.
  • November 19 – First Budget Iowa state director Sara Imhof, spoke with the Downtown Lion’s Club in Des Moines.
  • December 1 – Donald Trump participated in ‘Fiscal Fridays’ with a live in-studio interview.
  • December 3 – First Budget Iowa state director Sara Imhof led an interactive ‘Your First Budget’ exercise for the Iowa Taxpayers Association.
  • December 8 – Iowa cabinet member Jeff Danielson presented to the Cedar Falls Jaycees.
  • January 6 – First Budget hosted an interactive budget exercise at the NH Primary Student Convention.
  • January 8 – Rand Paul participated in ‘Fiscal Fridays’ with an in-studio interview.
  • January 25 – Former New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg and former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell discussed the impact of fiscal policy decisions at a public forum at Great  Bay Community College in Portsmouth.
  • January 28 – First Budget conducted a “Your First Budget” exercise with the Burlington Chamber and presented to the Burlington Kiwanis. First Budget also presented to the Cedar Rapids Rotary. First Budget also hosted a debate watch party at Mickey’s Pub in Waukee, IA.
